Ariel Lin’s new movie – My Egg Boy

There is a group in the Chicago area that has organized screenings of Asian movies and this is their latest. I’ll update this post after I see the movie on Wednesday!

Fascinating. That guy barely looks Asian at all! It looks fun! Taiwanese romantic comedies always tend to be really cute, imo. I enjoy them so much! But why does Ariel keep reprising these roles of older women in danger of being on the shelf, she still looks 18! Hahaha. When she was 18 she looked 12!

  He clearly takes after Dad (British) more than Mom (Taiwanese). I saw him in “Monga” with Ethan Ruan a few years ago.

Tall, lanky and really not too Asian looking at all! I agree about Ariel. She’s really pretty, and young looking…how old is she anyway? I started another Taiwan drama a little bit back called King of Romance, but both leads are so physically unattractive to me that I couldn’t go on….shallow right? I’ll probably go back at some point though. The story didn’t sound like a bad one, and at least I know what to expect……..

Reporting in – I enjoyed this movie and the chat with the female Writer/Director post-screening. It was interesting that the story was prompted because there was such a buzz in Taiwan over the fact that it’s become the world leader in the technology for egg and sperm preservation via freezing and how many women (including celebs) were talking about how they would do this or be told they should do this.

She wrote it with Ariel and Rhydian in mind as the leads because she knows them personally and created characters that suited their personalities. Let me say that those two had smoking hot chemistry! The scene in which the two first act on their attraction was sensuous without revealing anything too much (it was all conveyed facially) and it reminded me in many (good) ways of the honeymoon sequence with Ariel and Joe Cheng’s characters in the It Started With a Kiss sequel.

One other funny tidbit – it is filmed partly in Iceland and Sweden because to the Taiwanese (according to the director) going to a cold and snowy location for a sexy vacation is the thing to do! They already live in a hot climate so somewhere like Thailand holds no fascination!
