I really do miss the…

I really do miss the old TW site. I miss being able to go back and read our comments on all the dramas that we’ve shared. It was especially helpful when we watched the dramas at different times. Camelia will never know how we reacted to “Sorry, I Love You,” though she may never watch, lol, and I’ll never know how you guys reacted to “Nine” or “Big,” both of which I planned on completely viewing one day. Not that you guys won’t recall, but I do miss those “initial” reactions……

Hopefully we’ll make those same memories here…thank you Robin for giving us a place to do that……

I know. I wish there were a way we could have mined those posts before they were taken down. I’m sure they’re still archived somewhere, but i doubt we’ll ever see them again. 😦

completely agree tc..I’m grateful to have this place for us to share absolutely…but yes..the past comments were amazing to read..there have been so many lovely dramas over the years that cried out for discussions and boy were there many..especially loved when everyone had a different point of view and vigorously defended it..but always in a wonderfully respectful way..I’d love to be able to go back and relive those memories..it was also nice to get pop in guests once in a while..those lurkers who sometimes just had to post something and then went away again..hopefully they are still watching wherever they are…!

  We are all on the same wavelength! Yesterday I was looking at old emails with Diane about trying to save the TW site and wondering if I should let her know what we’ve done as our solution. I hadn’t reached out to her or others in the discussion because I wanted to test this out first, yes, but also because I’m using the free version of WP and didn’t want to have it outgrow our free limits too quickly.
  
  I also miss being able to read all those old posts – there was a lot of great commentary there! I know that Ben and Diane created archives of the materials, but I don’t know that it would be possible to share them. I know that Diane had a locked down read-only version of the site somewhere for a while, but don’t know if it’s still viable 😦
  
  Would you want me to reach out to her and others to invite them to comment/participate here?

    It wouldn’t hurt Robin. I wonder if they’re still watching novelas at all? TW got so big and accommodating such a large commentary machine has obviously been difficult at best…..I used to check them out on FB, but nothing’s been posted there in a good while….

      I don’t want to grow another TW site, though, is that selfish of me? And while I put in categories for telenovelas, I haven’t had the urge to watch any in a long time (thanks to the few minutes that I see when channel skimming being so unappealing). What say you all?

        I’m, personally, definitely not interested in another TW like telenovela site, but I do like the fact that, if a good novela comes along someday, we do have a place to share our views. There were also a lot of “mean” folks on the TW site, and I don’t want this to become a place for that kind commentary. We’re “serious” watchers here! Lol!

        Yes, that’s what I was thinking too. I don’t have the time/inclination to act as an admin to police posts to avoid the trolls or idiots, nor do I want to open it up willy-nilly. If there is someone we’d like to invite to ‘come play’ let me know and we can invite them. I can make it a semi-private site where it’s ‘public but not promoted’ so that people with the link can access it, but for right now the private by permission only helps us work through how we’d like to use the site.

      yes we are serious watchers here..and there’s not a mean bone in our bodies..of that I’m sure..lol! That’s what’s so wonderful about our small group..hanging around good people just has to make us even better no??

I haven’t watched telenovelas for years too (though I always live in hope that one will come around which will change that)..I haven’t given up on them..they’ve sort of given up on me..lol..I started on a brazilian telenovela a couple of weeks ago because my portuguese was getting rusty but after three episodes I just couldn’t continue..and I think the last spanish telenovela I shared was Hija del Mariachi..which was excellent of course!

So..staying with the asian dramas seems to be the logical course..though keeping the category there in hope wouldn’t be a bad thing. Maybe one day we’ll be able to share a telenovela together too..that would be awesome!

  Camelia, I just heard from Nadji, who sends you her love. For the life of me, I can’t get her to watch an Asian drama even though she admits that there’s many of them on Netflix, which she watches regularly. She did recommend a Turkish series called “Lovebird” which she highly recommends, and describes as an “old fashioned” love story. Maybe we can check it out at some point…..
  
  Again, I do miss those old connections and I’m glad that some of us do keep in touch…..😊

Thanks tc and please send her my love as well. I used to have her email but I think I lost it when I had to change email accounts. I’m glad that you still keep in touch. She was one of the casualties of losing the TW forums (and df too). So funny..I too tried to get her interested in the asian dramas..I remember sending her links to Coffee Prince..but she never did bite..lol..too bad because I think she would really appreciate the romance in them. I would love to watch a turkish drama but the problem is that they are not entirely and consistently subtitled I believe..if we could find one that was it would be great to share…I remember Yolette mentioning that as well. We’ll just have to keep on looking..meanwhile let’s hope Nadji sees the “light”..lol..

  I’ll take a look through my email lists and see if there is anyone who might be interested in joining in the fun (but if it’s for novelas, they might be pretty lonely).
  
  About the Turkish dramas, I think there are a few on Netflix now – and those would have to have complete subs – but I’ve never checked into them. Yet!
