My Sassy Girl – 2017 style

Last week I was kind of at loose ends and surfing the drama titles and came across this one. Of course it’s Joo Won’s last drama before enlisting so I was kind of curious. I’m three episodes in and still on the fence about it. It’s historical, which is fine with me, though truthfully I never pay attention to the political plotlines. I just love them for the costumes. 😁

Anyhow our heroine plays the strongminded and strongheaded Princess who isn’t content to stay within the palace walls and sneaks out whenever she wants to do her thing. Our hero has been hired to be a tutor for the small Crown Prince. Truthfully I missed a few chunks of the beginning episode and so missed some details but it seems that she blames him for losing a  jade ring and is determined that he deliver it to her. Their relationship is super antagonistic right now and I don’t mind that at all. However, I do mind the silliness. It just seems a little too forced to me and the jokes aren’t really that funny.

While I like a strong heroine of course, she is irritating me because she’s overdoing it and has turned into a bossy shrew who kicks at random – lies easily, shouts easily, and is just plain rude. His character is not quite on equal footing and he must be black and blue by now with all the physical attacks – don’t know, just not my thing and so undignified.

I’m hoping that all will calm down soon and that I can see some worthy chemistry soon, if not I think I”m moving on, much as I don’t like to abandon Joo Won to his fate.
