Again people are back to insinuating that Prosecutor Dude may have been behind the original killing, conveniently forgetting that he and the guy’s MOTHER found the body together. You could not have a stronger alibi than this, I hope all those rumblings don’t turn into actual charges because I will laugh myself sick at the lack of logic.

On the other hand, I am really admiring how Prosecutor Dude owns up immediately that all the charges point squarely to him for the second murder, only to turn around and pin the chief on why he seems to be so convinced that Prosecutor Dude isn’t in fact guilty. Woot. Clever.

Cop Girl is really sweet how she adopted that old lady. Watching them play with the face masks really warmed my jaded heart. I wish I could be as generous with strangers as she is… but if I brought a homeless old lady home, I’m sure I’d be cleaned out by the end of the week, not to mention resentful of my space and privacy. Ah, I feel rotten…

Hey, this is the land where you can be sued for slander/libel and be prosecuted even if what you say is true, so why not?!

I think that one of the things I appreciate most about this drama is that people who are in positions that require intelligence and insight actually possess those skills, instead of being so stupid that you wonder that they know how to walk and breathe at the same time. They also have a pretty shrewd understanding of human nature and a double dose of cunning.

Could Hwang Shi-mok have killed the guy? Um, theoretically he could have done it (wearing protective clothing because blood splatters), snuck outside, and waited for someone to come along who was coincidentally going to enter the house and pretend to find the body… Of course, he somehow skipped over the repairman going in because he wasn’t worthy of finding the body for him. And there’s the little issue of reasonable motive that has to be addressed too. But yeah, right, he could be responsible. But the way they play against each other is so much fun to watch.

I really love Bae Doona’s character. I can totally picture her having discussions with the writer and director to do little things like the face mask, or even taking pity on the old woman and inviting her to share her little apartment for a while as ways to show her character’s humanity — things that might not have originally been in the script but add so much.

Bae Doona’s character really is awesome. She’s a very worthy female lead! I like her a lot!

I love how she insists so casually that he must have feelings because that’s just the way it is. End of discussion. He seems to be lapping up her words so eagerly. Just like in “Because This is My First Life,” I loved how charmed he was at her use of the word “us” to refer to the two of them. Like he’s being included in an “us” for the very first time. He actually SMILED. LOL. It was SO CUTE!

  She’s also not looking for a romance here, she’s looking for a collaborator who is as ethical and intelligent as she is and her teasing him with the use of the word “us” and his small smile is so charming because they make such a good pair. It could, with other characterizations in the hand of another writer, have become a generic crime-fighting duo romance, with a glamorous lady cop a manly prosecutor (both wearing designer duds), instead of these two, she in her plain sneakers and pants and him in his office uniform of a white shirt and dark off-the-rack suit. I think he reacts to the pure pleasure of working with another person who understands the things that motivate him in his daily work, and it’s a beautiful thing!

      I think that there is an element of friendship to it (though depending how far you are in the drama you may/may not have seen how their relationship changes in his eyes.) He’s not really looking for, nor expecting friendship because he doesn’t know what to do with him. Look at how he reacts around his former classmate — so awkward.
      
      And I can relate — I’ve had some work relationships that were just so gratifying because the other person was such a professional and talented mind. In some cases we became friends, but more often we became friendly — and there is a difference. We would enjoy our conversations and have many sidebar chats, but we never socialized as friends.

What is it about that word us that is so magical? So small..so powerful..I join you in admiration for her character..I loved her intelligence..her gift of connecting..I loved that this character always made me feel that giving her my time was a good thing to do and that it wouldn’t be wasted..I wasn’t too familiar with this actress and she’s really won me over…ditto for him of course..am eager to see him again!
