What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim? – Eps 5-6

It’s funny how things happen and that the power has definitely gone over to our dear girl’s direction. Of course, it would have been a little humiliating, to say the least, to be rejected so but I liked seeing her anger come out cause it allowed us to see his version of groveling, LOL!

I’m getting tired of being teased though; much as their longing stares and sudden awkwardness can be endearing it’s also tiring if it becomes too repetitious. So will the real guy please stand up? I can’t wait to hear the truth about what happened that night long ago.

So what do you think of the frugal employee strutting around as if he had 10 suits when he barely has one??

I think that the writer is messing with our heads on the subject of which son was kidnapped and which one wasn’t. I was surprised that Hyung had a nightmare too, but the longer I watched these and the next few episodes I came to the conclusion that he is “borrowing” his younger brother’s reality and it’s amplified in his imagination because he is, after all, a creative writer. It has become real to him. I think that they’ve created a character in the older brother who is not sympathetic, nor trustworthy. He seems jealous, envious, and petulant underneath it all. In my head, I think that there’s a chance that there were 2 kidnappings that day; a minor one (his) and a major one (our hero’s) but everyone downplays the latter one for some reason.

I don’t mind the flirtation so far because I think he’s got to come to grips with letting someone into his life, even if it is Mi-so. Clearly, there’s a lot of emotional damage.

As for the “perfect employee” with 10 suits (and btw, that’s Chansung of the group 2PM not looking his finest with that horrible haircut and pasty makeup), that’s an amusing subplot.

I’m not sure how I feel towards the brother..he’s clearly shifty, probably a liar and possibly a manipulator but I don’t know if it’s the actor or how the character is written..but he’s just sort of blah..doesn’t bring out any strong feelings..don’t hate him but don’t really enjoy many of his scenes either..I’m not sure if the actor has a good handle of what he wants him to be.

Speaking of writers..I read that the original writer was replaced after two episodes and a new set of writers took over after that which is always interesting and possibly disastrous for a drama..but perhaps because it happened so early that won’t be the case here.

  Maybe my opinion of his performance is biased because of his character in Chicago Typewriter (which seems very similar); I’m predisposed to expecting the worst? He has played nice guys before, but I dunno… he’s okay, but slightly bland, like he hasn’t had enough life experiences yet to shape his performances.
  
  I did not see that tidbit about the writer being replaced — that’s rarely a good sign. Do you feel that there is a tonal change in the plot? Of course we cannot know how much of the original synopsis they had to work from. Maybe some of the will they/won’t they playing around is happening because they are working to fill in the gaps and they know we will enjoy seeing these two attractive people flirting with each other?
