Remembering Ben

I received news yesterday that our dear Phorum web guru and friend Ben Spade passed away last Tuesday.

Ben worked tirelessly to keep our Telenovelas website Phorum site, were we spent many hours and formed many friendships, long after it was easy to do so — browser and platform updates made things break if you looked at it cross eyed! But he faced health issues that had him retiring all too soon.

Over the past few years I’ve thought of him often. He was a joy to know and I hope you’ll understand how much I’ll miss him.

Those were wonderful days in Telenovela Land and we owe it all to him..I still think of it from time to time and wonder how old friends are…

Yes they were Camelia! My introduction to telenovelas began there, and they were filled with both the joy and angst that came with watching them. May Ben Rest In Peace, and I will never forget those days……..

  May he rest in peace. He was an angel who came into my life when I most needed him, and worked tirelessly for our little community for no compensation. I hope he realized daily how much we appreciated him and his efforts. That was a helluva time in my life! I’m grateful he was part of it, along with all of you!!

    I have grieved Ben in stages over the years, first when he told me of his diagnosis, then of his decision to pull back from his commitments, and then when he went into radio silence and those damn FB notifications about his birthday would pop up, leaving me to wonder, mourn, and yes, celebrate who he was to us. If our thoughts, blessings, and prayers can reach him, I think he’ll know just how very special he was to everyone who knew him.
