I am now on pause from The Package

I’m going to be sorry to leave these people. I’ve become quite fond of them and I feel like I should now take a plane and fly home since I’ve practically been touring France along with them. It’s been just amazing and I’ve loved every minute of it.

It’s been fun to learn about all the back stories – some surprises but really – not many and that’s just fine. I just love dramas where a group of strangers becomes a cohesive team, almost family – gets me every time..

Chastity belt anyone????

Oh my goodness what fun these guys must have had filming – that came out of nowhere and I loved it!!

But oh…just another reminder of what women have had to endure over the centuries..who was the brilliant mind who thought of it I wonder???  Those husbands were away for months..sometimes years!!!!

The Package

I just watched the first three episodes and I’m loving it so far! SO much to identify with, over the years I’ve BEEN there, among that group! I’ve followed along so many of those tour guides down those crowded streets, gotten up when told, had breakfast when told (though in my real life scenarios there was no way we’d be the only group at any of these sites!!!) It’s so familar in a bittersweet kind of way.

One of my favorite fluff movies is If it’s Tuesday it Must be Belgium, and these are the exact vibes – wonder if our director has it on his favorites list too! But aside from that, I’m enjoying watching these quirky people. Individually and as a group they are such fun – love the way each back story is presented. Dear Hogu is here – though he’s as far as he can be from Hogu in fact. I just love watching his face – it’s such an appealing one. We have our older couple who fight light an older couple, or should I say one shouts and the other soothes. We have our mystery couple who supposedly are having an affair but all I see is that he’s acting like an indulgent father spoiling a cranky daughter. I like our heroine too – we get layers regarding her background but she presents the right mix of vulnerability and steel that is intriguing. She reminds me a little of that older lady, patiently repeating the same thing. Is she ever going to get her bonus I wonder???? And then the REAL star of our drama – Paris.

I feel like I’m taking this vacation package with them. it’s just amazing to share that with this interesting group of people!!!!

Looking forward to more….

Added 2 New Shows to My View List

(I’ll apparently do anything to put off saying adios to Park Seo-joon!)

I began Memory Lost, a Chinese drama with actors who are new to me, and The Package, with lovely Lee Yeon-hee and cutie Jung Yong-hwa and they’re pleasant diversions so far.

Memory Lost is a detective show with an amnesia twist; the two detectives (she’s a criminal psychologist and he’s more of a Sherlock, observe the clues type – both very good at their jobs, though he gets referred to as a “god” for his abilities and she’s just “Boss”) are connected but don’t know it. Some incident happened 5 years earlier and she lost her memories and he lost all trace of her and also can’t remember her face – no spoilers I guess as it’s central to the plot and posted everywhere – they were once lovers. Work brings them together again they have no clue what they meant to each other. The investigation stuff is a little cheesy, but things zip along so it’s sufficiently entertaining.

The Package is great for those with the travel bug (or bad for those with the travel bug who can’t go anywhere right now), especially if you want to go to France where it’s primarily set. Lee Yeon-hee (who I really fell for in Miss Korea) is a tour guide for Korean tourists on high end package tours and Jung Yong-hwa (who I hope gets to sing at some point 😍) is a single guy who’s trying to decide what his future will hold. It’s only 12 episodes and it’s on cable, so it’s a little more willing to push the sexy angle, plus the settings and experience of the group so far remind me of my own travels around Paris. They’re off to Mont St. Michele by episode 3 so I’m looking forward to that too, especially seeing it on a sunnier day than was my lot! There’s a hint of some darker misfortunes for those on the trip, including the leads, so it’s not all happy-happy. So far, so good!
